8/30/08 Guest Submission Mouse Mimistrobell

I was inspired to submit an outfit to Closet Crisis, after coming upon a grey plaid skirt by Wrong! that I'd not worn in a while, and a great hair with a slouchy hat that I got from Maitreya at the hair fair! Still traumatized by the need to be bald and naked to get it (I did though, I"m motivated!!!), and thinking modified school girl, I put this outfit together.

I started with the skirt, and because I always think that skirts are too short in SL (WHAT?) I decided to pair it with a great pair of black leggings from Dernier Cri (buy the fatpack, trust me!).  Since to me, grey plaid screams with for the need for red, I decided to make that my accent color.  A great staple piece, my red trixie tank from Celestial Studios, a freebie pair of killer pumps from Aphrodite Creations (I LOVE her group) and a red trimmed grey cardigan from Vette's Boutique rounded out the look.

I decided I needed those scrunched up socks I'm seeing everywhere with my heels to mimic the scrunched up hat, and low and behold, I had a freebie pair from Shiny Things!  Score!  Since I love different and unique things, I pulled out two necklaces from two of my favorite jewelers, Violet Voltaire and Bonita Popinjay, decided to skip earrings as it would have been too much, and topped it off with my new Maitreya hair!  The poses are LAP, the skin is my new love, Curio.  Did I mention that I want more freckles?

8/27/08 Guest Submission Annah Whitfield

 

Last week was a very busy week! With all the hunt preparation at *AnnaH*, and finishing the new release Colby and the new store at George 5, I couldn't waist much time choosing clothes, but I needed to be well dressed in case of someone appear in the store where I was setting up things. So, I ended up wearing a really sweet and well made set of underwear - yes, you can't see it! It is underwear!!! But I need to say it, because everytime I changed clothes in the middle of the store I was wearing THIS lingerie! It is from Ornamental Life Store, and it is called Annyka on Tuesdays. The colour I am wearing is the green, that matches my jacket! This way I was never completly naked :P

I am sure you all know where it came from! The Trenchcoat is from Armidi, and it was my very first bought in Armidi! The colour is amazing, and the details on sculpted things are marvelous! I am wearing only the short coat, but there's a flexi long coat, very cool! And to complete the outfit, what else is more confortable and easy to wear than a black pair of leggings? This one are from the Dove outfit from Ornamental Life Store - yes I *own* all Ornamental life stuff! It is very well made and they are very casual, but yet stylish!

I wasn't ready to face all the stuff whithout a cute clutch to keep all my documents and post its for the hunt. The black leather clutch is from House of Hearts and it is very simple, but goes perfectly with this outfit. It comes in 3 versions - 2 poses and 1 unposed. I also needed a cell phone! Yeah, everyone needs one! This one is a copy of the posed version available at the store. I didn't use the animation with the phone, but I did used my pose.

My hair is one of my favourite hairs from all time! It is from Mirai Style, and it's fun and grunge. Makes me look like a rock star - or makes me feel like it!  The shoes I chose to the outfit are simple black shoes, but again, very stylish black shoes. They are one of my favourites and they are from Jaywalk. This is the kind of shoes that goes with everything... since the little black dress till a pair of jeans, they always look nice, and that's why I have them! They suit all needs!

 

Necklace and earrings are from Earthtones. They match the coat, they are casual and they look beautiful. They are called Paua Round Shell. I didn't need to adjust anything! It was perfect! I am all about acessoires, so I also added a cool (and free) pair of sunglasses! They are from Mokoptica and they suit really great in my face! What I also try to use almost everyday are tattoo's. I love feminine and well made tattoo's! This time I am wearing ones from Tuli, that are called Henna and that were free a long time ago (I think). It is a set for all body, but I am using only the undershirt layer, so you can see a bit in my chest! Just another Rock Star detail :P

 

Nail Polish is caled Black Nightmare and is done by me *you can still find them in the hunt at my store in George 5*.  And finally the skin... the most perfect skin on the face of Earth! Well, not Earth Earth! You know what I mean =) It is from *blowpop* and it is called Pink Portia. It is a clean make up, the kind of make up I prefer and that doesn't give me any worries while I am working so hard! Annyka is the best on doing skins, and I will only take Pink Portia when she release another cutie like this one!

 

It was a good week after all, and my outfit was perfect for the complete week - very confortable and stylish!

I hope you aren’t getting tired of me I know I’ve posted a lot this week, but technically they haven’t all been my posts. This should be a quick post since I am just answering Achariya’s challenge to wear no prims to Hair Fair. I have been around a while… a long while so I remember when I used to not wear prim hair and only wore system hair. Yes I have scary photos to prove it.

 Yes that is me circa 10–04 I know scary. (You have to click to make it larger I’m too embarrassed to post it real size. I think today I managed to make a much nicer system hair well considering….

I wanted to of course wear something colorful so I started with the Checkered Halter from Lala Foofoo in Sunshine. I love these tanks they come on all the layers and are very detailed. Under this I put on the Starfruit Retro Top from Twosome. This is one of my favorite tops what can I say it just has such a super cute cut and color and texture! For pants I wanted to wear my very favorite Crystal Capris from LF Designs. Launa Fauna has made the perfect jeans and I think even though it’s been a year I haven’t found a pair to replace them as my favorites.

I even managed to find a texture necklace this is pretty old and made by Nylon Pinkney so I’m not sure if she still sells it. Since I didn’t want to venture into texture shoes I figured my Toe and Nail polish was enough decoration. These are my manicure and pedicure set in Shiny Red from Nyterave. I always wear these pedicures probably because in rl my toes are always painted red too. Last I put on the Vogue Skin in Classic Glitter Gold because I think the shiny gold makes up for my lack of jewelry. I also put my eyelashes to 100 like we used to have to do before the prim lashes came along.

This was a fun experiment and it will be helpful when I go to Hair Fair but I sure do miss my prims and I’m sure I’ll be back in them when not at the event.

Why am I like this? Well, short post today, but you'll find out!

Hair Fair is coming... I mean it's here and I don't like to miss this kind of event! It's hard to go there, because most of the times it's laggy because everyone wants to go there, and people normally use much more prims than they should, so it is even more laggy! Why do you need an AO, a facelight, prim hair with one hundred prims and shoes with fifty prims each??? Well, you can wear them, but actually you don't need them! The worst stuff is the scripted attachments, like AO's, mystitool, weapons...

When there's an event like this I am all anti-prims! So this will be my outfit to go to the fair! I am using *only* four prims! Yes, four prims! In my shoes! Each shoe has 2 prims, and it is from Stripeberry Shoes. I bought them in the Shoe Expo that happened last month and they are really cute, with nice texture!

Because it is a no-prim outfit, I can't use prims to *adorn* my avatar! So I just put on the top of the Liane dress from Persona, and it's leggings. They are pink, or sort of, so I am pretty sure that Hethr is going to like it :P

I also add the Sarah Mini Shorts shorts from the hunt at my store. (I am not trying to advertise, 'cuz they are totally free at the hunt!) You will be able to find them in a little box somewhere inside the store.

Well, I am not wearing prims, but I want to be pretty! So I am wearing the nail polish from Persona in lilac. I think this one was a group gift a while back! But I am sure that there are some cute colours at Myllie's store!

Last but not least, my skin! This was the first skin I bought and it is still one of my favourites. It is from Naugthy Designs, and what does it have so special? It comes with two options - hair and no hair! I am using the hair version, obviously, so I don't need to wear any prim hair!

This way I won't cause lag in the sims of the Hair Fair! It would be great if everyone could find a cool no-prim outfit and went to the event like this, so it was easy to shop!

Ok I’ve been hoarding this look since Monday. I just kept getting distracted (3 hours at the pre-event for Hair Fair didn’t help but was super fun!!) So due to that I’m wearing an old hair here instead of all the new hairs, but really don’t the old hairs need love too. Besides this is the first time I’ve blogged this Sienna hair from Aden and I love it. So if you need a break from the lag head over to her store and pick this up :P

Now the outfit. I have noticed this trend toward wearing “formal shorts” lately and even though these are pretty long the remind me of it. I love the new colby shorts from Ana. I chose this deep purple color because it was so rich and it made the belt look so wonderful and bright in contrast. I wanted some contrast in my shirts too so I first chose the raspberry stripes top from Pixeldolls. This has a nice soft color with cute little details on the fabric. Under this I wanted something to tie together the raspberry and purple so of course I went with Aqua! Ok well maybe it’s a stretch but I love the color contrasts. I’m wearing the the indian summer blue n fuschia top from Zaara. I think my favorite part of this shirt is the little dot detail on the neckline. It just gives it that something extra special.

On my never ending quest for flats to replace my beloved phlats I came across these cute buckle ballet flats in cyan from ETD. These are pretty reasonably priced at 175 and come in quite a few colors. I also picked up that aqua color in my earrings +plus turquoise plastic earrings. My necklace is the Cherry Charm Necklace from Miam Miam. I adore this necklace I think alot of it comes from the soft red almost pinky color of the cherries. It makes it match just about everything I own. I just checked and this necklace is still for sale on the Viva La Glam sim for the ridiculously low price of 65L. I mean that’s practically a freebie!!

I wanted bright bangles too so on my left arm is the blue flower white enamel bracelet from Whimsical Creations and on my right arm is the quattro bangle in verano sunset from Aphrodite Creations. Last but not least i wanted strong but still soft feminine makeup so I put on my Peaches Chai skin.

If I’m quiet for a few days it just means that I’m buried under the load of hair demos I came back with from Hair Fair. While I did narrow it down from 9 billion to 48, I think I’m gonna have to do a second round demo cut. *Sigh*

I love the Guest Submissions!! Keep them coming :D This is another one I forgot about during the move.

I bought this fabulous dress from Haute Style and just had to make an outfit with it. It's called Savannah. It has just so many rich beautiful colours to be inspired by. It comes with the matching stockings that I'm wearing here, and there are two different styles of skirt, one has an extra layer underneath, but I picked the short version. It's fun, flirty and bottom skimming.  It also comes with a cute matching scarf that I'm wearing around my neck. Due to the hair flower I could not wear any more necklaces but I thought this was enough.

The dress does come with matching shoes, but I felt like wearing boots with it instead. I chose the Quin Boots in Royalty from Coquette. Then I set to finding the perfect jewellery to accessorise - I've had these bangles for a while, they are from Artilleri and come in a set of 6, they match up perfectly. My earrings are from Caroline's and come with a matching gold ring I'm wearing on my left hand. My other hand has the Psycho Bunneh ring from Canimal which is just so fun I wear it at every opportunity.

I chose the Undone hair in LightBlond from Gurl6, then felt that it needed an extra touch, so I added the Orchid hair flower from Artilleri in pink.

I spent some time finding the right skin to wear with this, but then remembered I bought the Deviant Nation Willow pack just the other day. The Astral makeup just matches with the shades of deep pink and green in the eyeshadow.

I felt that there was something missing and my outfit wasn't quite "done", so I spent some time trying to find a jacket, with no luck. Then I decided to try an undershirt instead. I chose the one from Last Call's Christina outfit and tinted it deep pink.

8-19-08 Guest Submission from Enigma Bombay

**A quick apology to Enigma, she sent this over a couple weeks ago right before the move and I forgot to post it. Sorry!!**

I received as a gift a pair of Mason Kingsford's just-released, sculpted, high-heeled wedge sneakers and decided I needed to build an outfit around these superb shoes. They have a color-change script for the shoes and laces, so I had a range of shades from which to choose. I headed to a new-to-me store owned by Katat0nik Pidgeon and found some amazing, scripted skirts for L$1; I think the pink skirt mixed with purple shoes is a bright and cheery color combination/contrast.
 
Next, I chose a colorful jacket from Canimal that has both pink and purple in the print; this jacket comes in a pack of six colors, and they really do remind me of candy, as the name says. I love the grafitti look on clothing, especially in rainbow colors.
 
To offset all the bright colors, I fell back on two of my favorite layering pieces, the Zee tank from artilleri (in white, but I tinted it black) and the Yardstick thigh-high socks in midnight from Pushbutton Industries (*PBI*). The socks have a very subtle stripe in them and come in a pack of
13 colors. I liked the effect of the black with the brights, to give the outfit a bit of an edge.
 
Accessories for this outfit include one of my all-time faves, the white lily bangle from Creamshop; I love the flexi-bits on this whimsical yet feminine bracelet. I also picked out more stark necklaces and earrings from Schadenfreude by Allegory Malaprop so as not to compete with the vivid colors on the skirt and jacket. I love the way these three items all have color change scripts in them, and I went with black (for the leather on the collar) and copper for the metal. These jewelery pieces are ones I turn to again and again since the color changes make them so versatile.
 
Bright clothes call for glittery makeup, in my opinion, so for my skin I chose the Classic Glitter in Silver 2 from Celestial Studios by Starley Thereian. I also threw on the colorful "maggie" tattoo from artilleri, for good measure. My hair is ETD's Survive, which, unfortunately, is no longer available since it was a Relay For Life limited edition style. However, Elikapeka has several other similar styles that would work well with this outfit, I included details about the Mira style which has a scripted, color-change headband.
 
I am constantly remixing outfits and had a great time putting this one together for my first Closet Crisis submission!

Yes, we are still taking guest submissions!

I have actually had 2 people ask me today if we are still taking guest submissions. Well ok one person was reminiscing on how she liked when we did and the other suggested that maybe would do that again because she loves seeing the outfits and it’s hard for me to hold down the fort by myself while Jenn is doing the school thing.

I thought maybe I should remind people that we are taking guest submissions! I have never stopped, I just haven’t been getting submissions from people. I love seeing the outfits everyone makes and I’ll repost the “rules” so that you can all get started on sending things in to me. I post everything thats sent as long as it follows the guidelines and if you want to send me an outfit every week (or every day I suppose) you can, just be aware that it takes me a couple days to get them onto the blog. It takes me that long to get my own posts on there too hehe.

So here are the guidelines:

You must submit either a 512 x512 jpeg photo of you and your outfit photo shopped similar to the style of ours. Or if you aren’t comfortable with photoshop you must submit 3 photos (2 front/side facing and 1 backfacing) on a white background from in world. These should be taken in the daytime and if you need a photo box please head over to the closet crisis headquarters and pick up a free one. Also please use the “Save Snapshot to hard drive” option when taking your photos to reduce the distortion from shrinking them. Here are some examples:

Ok it was definately a pink day. I also searched my inventory for some flats to possibly serve as replacements for the phlats since it seems Tekilah Elytis has left and taken down all her stores. I remembered these cute little ones from She’s So Unusual Shoes. They are super cheap at 95L and are really cute with little white bows. They come in quite a few colors and while they aren’t scripted I think they are a very reasonably priced option. I have them in 2 colors but I’m sure I’ll be adding the others.

Once I knew that I wanted to wear these I needed some super bright pink items to match. I put on the Pink Shrug from Stitch by Stitch, this comes in 4 colors and I love the sweater pattern. Under this I have on the mermaid pin up tattoo tank from Lala FooFoo. I just love the graphic on this and of course it comes on all possible layers like all her clothes. Under this I wanted something just to give it a little contrast so I settled on the undershirt from the Electro Ballet Bodysuit from Kyoot HQ. I love how the black and white stripes look with this.

My skirt is the Jeanskirt Linda (Dark Wash) from Mashooka Designs. This skirt has a wonderful texture and shape. It comes in a couple of washes so I’m sure there will be one you like. You might notice that I actually have on a prim belt. This is the Classic Ink Belt (Curvy) from Kari, this belt actually fit me with very little changes. I am pretty curvy so this made me very happy. It comes in 3 different sizes so if you have also had troubles in the past this is a good one for you to try.

A couple of weeks ago Aoharu was having a fun ice cream jewelry sale where you paid 10L and got a random piece. I ended up with quite a few different necklaces (They are all available individually at regular price in the store) and this Cassis Sorbet Ice Cream Pendant matched the bright pink I was looking for. On my left arm is the white sprinkles bracelet from 69, I have been wearing this all the time lately but it just seems to match every outfit.  On my left arm I have on the zebra bangle from Earthtones boutique to match the undershirt.

This super cute hair/hat combo is actually a freebie from Hiccup available at the main office of the Starlust shopping center/hotel. It is very easily tinted and I just love the texture on the hat. Of course I needed super bright pink makeup so I went with the Fuchsia Smoky Vogue skin. I’ve been feeling really casual lately and I think this outfit captures that nicely.

I’m back! We are all moved (sorta…) At least all our stuff is in the new apartment, I’ve been attempting to unpack this week but it turns out we have way too much stuff (went from a 2 bdr apt to a 1 bdr!!) so the unpacking is on hold for a day or so. I wanted to put together an outfit during my break.

I started with the Scarlet Mobstress skirt from Kyoot because I love the color, texture and the great belt. This skirt fit me really well right out of the box and I barely had to do any adjustments which is great since I’m feeling lazy today.  I wanted a shrug or little jacket to go with this, but instead put on the Anticipation shirt from Pixeldolls. I love how soft the shirt looks it matches the softness of the skirt. Underneath the sweater I put on the Stella Cami in Winebox from Devilish Cupcake. This is in the top 5 of my favorite cami’s I feel like it matches everything and the slight sparkle dresses everything up just a tiny bit.

My shoes are the Sassy velvet black shoes from Maitreya, these were also chosen for their soft texture and of course the bow. Keeping the bow theme in mind I put on the ultra adorable Lolita Ribbon that was free from Honey Kitty. This is a huge scripted color change bow that goes in your hair. I’m not sure if it’s still up but if so you definately want to grab one. On my neck is the Lolly Choker from Curious Kitties. Besides having a cute crown charm it also has a HUGE bow tie in the back and was part of the CSR Stamp Rally 2008. If you haven’t checked this out yet, you should. You get to browse 20 stores and some of your purchases contain a stamp card that you can have stamped at each store. After it is stamped you can choose from 1 of 20 prizes. It’s a fun way to discover new designers and get free stuff!

On my right wrist I have on the Black Diamonds Heart Bracelet from Smitten, this store was new to me but she has lots of cute jewelry. On my left arm is the Pearly Bow Bracelet from Koge Cleaver of Junk and I have worn this more times than I can count.

I wanted some dramatic makeup to match the dress so I went with the Vogue skin in Winter-1. I like that this is dramatic without having an overpowering lip color. As a Blonde I can’t wear the overpowering colors. My hair is the Natasha from ETD and it looked absolutely adorable with the Lolita Bow.

I know I have been MIA for a few weeks. My husband and I are moving to the Bay area Friday so we’ve been super busy getting prepared for that. I will try to be around a little more until I find a new job there but well if you’ve ever moved you know something will probably come up.

I was inspired today by the adorable new Paraplu AO/Pose Set from Torridwear. I got the one with the umbrella that changes to 7 diff textures. I love this red one because it has a bright yellow lining and little white clouds. The poses are so adorable, I’m not usually one for props but I just couldn’t resist. I had to pair this with the Salopette’s I found from Useless Children when I was wandering around the new shopping sim Floyd. This is a definate must explore sim there is a whole mountain of stores that are in different types of flowers. It’s very adorable! (also a great place to walk aroudn with your Paraplu)

I wanted a cute puffy sleeve shirt so I put on the Arianna shirt from Annah Couture, I have been wanting to use this in an outfit and the little embroidered flowers on it look great with the blue denim. I also had to wear the Lolli hair from Katatonik. This hair is super adorable without being too overcute and the bow is scripted color change. You definately don’t need another sentence on how much I adore bows and color change scripts, but well most of the things I’m wearing today are scripted color change and 3 have bows so I’m sure you have figured it out.

I put on my very favorite Phlats from Tekilah Elytis and turned them green. I have recently discovered Ume Mode and they have a really cute free necklace and earring set. I have on the gold hoop earrings. I also picked up this ribbon necklace there (color change!) I like how the orange plays off of my green shirt. On my left arm I have on the natural blue/green bracelet from Caroline Apollo and on my right the Stripe bangle (also color change!) from Viva La Glam. My make up is the Classic Glitter in Gold 1 from Celestial Studios.

I had a lot of fun with this outfit and I have piles and piles of new purchases to sort through so I should be able to find a new outfit in there. Thanks for sticking by me during my off times.
