I’m sure you all know my dilemma prim boots, so just imagine how excited i was to see the new Buccaneer’s Lass boots from Launa Fauna! They actually fit me and they have great textures, they just look like they would be soft and comfy. In honor of them I decided to do a modern day pirate inspired look.

I started with the retro chidori skirt from Barerose, I am convinced that chidori means “super cute fabric for skirts” because she has a few outfits out of this pattern and I have loved every one.

I took a long time finding a shirt because I didn’t want to go too costumey. I finally decided on the peasant in innocent from Liquid Velvet Studios because it is soft and feminine and I liked that it has a tank top for under it. Over this I’m wearing the buckle corset in black leather from Torridwear. I got this in a pack with a bunch of other colors for some ridiculously low price. You should defiantly get a pack they are done very well and are under priced for sure.

The necklace I’m wearing is the diamond double cross from Elex Matador Designs. For some reason I have a hard time finding good crosses in sl, but I love this one it’s just sparkly enough without being over the top. (well thats from my perspective and you know I love my sparklies) I needed a little color so I put on the melodic atrocity cuffs in pink from Violet Voltaire. These spiked cuffs are freaking adorable with their lace and bows. And yes I am a little biased towards Violet but I would love them even if someone else made them. They come in a really cute set that even has a headband I’m gonna work into an outfit someday.  The pink in the cuffs made me want to wear my Lulu Chunky hoops.

I think the Anisa hair from Etd is one of my favorites. I love that in the dirty burnt texture it has a great pattern on the bun. I have on yet another of the Deviant Nation Vamp skins, I might have to hire Starley to teach me how to do that to my eyeliner in rl. This one is called Beguile and is actually pretty neutral allowing the eyes to really pop.

6-28-07 Closet Crisis Event!

It’s time for another event! This time we have asked Dakota Buck to come be our guest judge and she has also graciously offered prizes for the 3 finalists. The winner will get their photo and post on closet crisis and the 3 finalists will receive 800L Gift Certificates to Savvy?.

It will work very much like last time where you come in your favorite re-mixed outfit, but this time we would like you to list what you are wearing and the store it came from on a notecard. Then when you walk the runway just tell us a little about what inspired the outfit and we’ll have your card given out so that people can purchase your great finds for themselves. We will decide on 3 finalists and then leave it up to you the audience to vote for their favorite.

The event will start at 7pm sl time on Saturday June 30th and will last for approximately 1 hour or so. The Closet Crisis HQ is located at THINC 217, 79, 25 and feel free to IM me or email closetcrisissl@gmail.com with any questions.

This outfit happened purely by chance as I was trying on things after a shopping trip. I love it when things like that happen. I tried on the Antique Seagull Outfit in Blue from Savvy? and then tried on the Sailor Denim Shorts in Grey from Karamia. I was so excited to see that the shorts matched the top perfectly. The wrinkling and shading on this top is fantastic. The cute little bow is also a plus. The shorts are amazingly textured, and I love that the set comes with two different colors of buttons. I wanted a shrug of some sort, and remembered the White Shrug from the Alizee Outfit from Last Call. I love how delicate the sleeve attachments look. I’m already a fan of the sculpted prims and can’t wait to see the amazing things people will make with them.

 

My shoes are the Black Patent Leather Pumps from Tete a Pied. These were a fabulous group freebie. Once again, I must say that I love a mid-height heel. Take a classic shoe shape and spice it up with patent leather, now that’s a shoe. They’ll become a staple in my inventory. I’m wearing the Marble Bead Earrings from {JUNK}. These are super cute and simple, and I feel like they give a nod to the buttons on the shorts.

 

My hair and hat combo is the Jennifer Hat + Hair in Espresso from Celestial Studios. Yes, I was a little partial to this hair because I share the same name. Sometimes, there are actually perks of having a common name. But, when I tried it on, I was sold. I really love the simplicity of the hairstyle, and the color is very similar to my beloved ETD Smoke color. Then we have the hat, a tweed hat. I love hats, and I love tweed. So, that was a perfect combo for me. Oh, and the hat’s tintable (score!). My skin is the (CS) Vogue Skin in Amber (Summer – 2) Light Freckles also from Celestial Studios. I’m loving the very subtle, yet very different, sheerness levels of the makeup on the summer skins.

Today’s outfit was inspired a few weeks ago, when I attended the Boston Pride Festival. I looked around forever for the perfect shirt, and even posted here on the blog for some help. I got an IM from elka Lehane, the great designer of !BF! (aka Boing Frommage). After a couple of weeks throwing ideas back and forth, she delivered this awesome shirt to me. I can’t rant enough about how much I love this shirt!! A big big Thank You to elka, for putting together perfectly the idea I had in my head.

 

Second Life is celebrating it’s “Pride” at the SecondLife Pride Festival this week (June 24-30), so many designers have been putting together pride stuff. I found this great leather beaded choker and bracelet at DellyBeams, and my ring is from Mhaijik Things. One of my best friends, Violet Voltaire, got really excited when I told her I was going to do a pride post and she whipped up this great crown (named after me hehe).

 

I chose to wear my “dunks” skirt from Sand Shack Surf, Co.,  because I wanted a cute but casual look, and added my Lo-Top Kook Kicks, from KK Outfitters. Of course I needed to add some slouchy socks, and these freebie nubby socks from Shiny Things worked perfectly. I’m also wearing the “Rainbow belt charm” from Au Naturel, which is made to go with her leather belts…but since the belt attachment and the skirt attachment are at the same point, I just adjusted it a bit to look like it was attached to the skirts belt loop.

 

I put on my “Dare” hair by Naughty Designs… this is men’s hair but I loved the short messy look of it and it fits females! And finally I’m wearing my honey/blueberry skin from Lovey’s Boutique.

I don’t wear dresses very often or pink either, but I couldn’t help it with this outfit. I started with the Scottie Dress from CASHMERE. I love all the colors in this dress (yes, even the pink, lol). I really love the shape of the dress, too, because it’s so flattering. Over it, I’m wearing the White Multi-Top from the Crinoline Dress from PixelDolls. This jacket is the perfect length over a babydoll…I looked for the Crinoline Dress at PixelDolls, but I was unable to find it. I did find this jacket in two outfits in the PixelLounge, so the jacket is still available just not in its original outfit. I did give descriptions of the outfits to make it easier to find…I wanted to cover up the legs a bit because the girls were already on display, so I put on the Cropped Tie Bottom Leggings in Cloud (Tintable) from boing fromage. I tinted it a soft black to match the jacket. I love the cute, little tie attachments.

 

My shoes are the Black Satin Ballet Slippers from Allure. These really look like ballet slippers, and the shine of the satin fabric is absolutely perfect. I wanted a fun, bold necklace to match the feel of the dress. I’m wearing the Faedra’s Crest Necklace in Multi/Gold from EARTHTONES Boutique. I tinted the crystals to yellow and dark green to bring the focus up to the face. I love that the pendant is big, but not overpowering. I do love the multi options that are available for the jewelry because I really like being able to pick and choose the color combos.

 

My hair is the Survive hair in Smoke from ETD. This hair just has a really fresh look to it that I love. My skin is the Vogue Skin in Amber (Summer – 3) Light Freckles from Celestial Studios. OMG, I’m so in love with the new line of Vogue Skins. Expect to see me in these for quite some time. I did go a tone darker than my usual Cashmere tone. I’ve been wanting to go darker so it can feel more like me (I’m more of a light tan). The overall look of the makeup is very fresh and perfect for summer. I know this is sl, but when it’s hot outside, wearing heavy makeup in sl just feels wrong to me. Probably because I can envision the makeup melting off throughout the day (no amount of She Laq – Benefit’s makeup sealer - can save that). I can’t express how excited I was to see these skins. It has a sheer gloss, a fresh wash of color on the cheeks, and a light, almost ethereal, eye. Oh, and the brows, I am actually really picky about my brows. I prefer a thicker brow with a soft, natural arch. I think it’s most flattering when your brows match the midtones of your hair color. Ooh, and I went for the freckles this time. They’re so cute!

Some days the clothes just seem to jump out of my inventory and make it so easy for me to make outfits. This was one of those. I started with the skirt from the Antique Seagull dress from Savvy?. I’m not sure why Dakota named it after a Seagull I’ll have to ask her… either way I love this skirt. I mean it’s pink and pin striped with a bow what's not to love? The next piece that jumped out at me was the Pink Chevron tank from Microphage, these 2 pieces work perfectly together almost as if they were designed by the same person. Very strange when that happens but I love them both so much I’m not questioning it. I think the flowers on this give it that little something extra and keep it from being too serious. Underneath everything I have on the swimsuit from the Vega Pantsuit set by Shai. Shai always manages to give us layer options and with this I get to use the gorgeous neck portion of this swimsuit. I really like the shading around the collar, it’s very soft and the little dots down the front give a nice illusion of sheerness.

I wasn’t sure of a necklace with this because I didn’t want to cover up the gorgeous collar. I went with the Heirloom Locket because I think it falls in just the right length as to enhance the neckline. My earrings are also from Earthtones and they are from the Seahorse Frolic set. I love these little guys they even have little tiny blue eyes. I wanted some pretty simple bangles so I chose the Perle Fragili bracelet from Ame True on my right arm and the Pink Tortoise shell Bangle on my left. These Retrosweet powder pink shoes from Shiny Things are probably my very favorite shoes in all of second life. I guess its just my obsession with pink and bows all rolled into one.

My hair is Crave from Naughty Designs, this is the first all sculpted prims hair that I have bought and it’s a little different to get used to than regular prim hair. I love how the curls in the back of the ponytail look so I’m looking forward to seeing what people can do with hair. I’ve got another new Deviant Nation skin on this one is Vamp– Bewitch, this lipstick matches the outift perfectly and has that nice shimery quality that all of these new releases have.

Also look for an announcement about a new event happening next weekend, I’m still working on the details but I really want to have one probably on Saturday. It will probably be the same theme as last time because I want to work out some kinks in the system to make it run smoother.

For this outfit, I started with the Birdy Skirt from the Birdy Outfit from First Impressions. The Birdy Outfit is a RFL outfit that is available only until Thursday when the next RFL outfit is released. The skirt is so cute because I just love birdies (well, all animals). I love a good knee-length a-line skirt, and this is definitely one of them. I paired it with the Papillon Burgandy Top from boing fromage. For some reason the top came out looking a bit more brownish for me, although I swear that it was more reddish before. Either way, I love the fabulously hand-drawn green lace detail peeking out the top. Over it, I’m wearing the Banana Jacket from Nylon Outfitters. I was so excited when I saw this in the group notice because I have a thing for jackets and lately a thing for yellow. All the detail on the jacket is superb. I particularly love the little pockets and the seaming.

 

My shoes are the Taupe Brocade Mules from Lassitude & Ennui. I love the brown piping; it really gives a crisp look to the shoe. The Shades of Blue Bangle from the Aurora Bloom Bangles Set from EARTHTONES Boutique is probably one of my faves because it’s a greenish wood textured one.

 

I’m wearing the Naomi hair in Smoke from ETD. I can’t get enough of this hair. I just love the wispy pieces and the bangs. My skin is the (DN) Vogue Skin in Cashmere (Vamp – Beguile) from Last Call. I love how the makeup changes the shape of the eyes.

Ok my hat kick is back, I HAD to have this feathered straw hat from Pixeldolls. This hat is so beautiful, it has long dangly peacock feathers and an exquisite straw detailing. I only wish that I had more occasions to wear hats like this in rl. To go along with the fun summery feel of the hat I put on the top from the Summer Cafe outift by Kat Palmer. I wandered into her shop one one of my rambling mall walks one day, she has only a few things but they are very good and this is part of a baby doll dress. I love that it has the ring on the top and the color is great. Over this I put the linen jacket from the Marie Helene outfit from Last Call. This jacket is so great and the bell sleeves are wonderful, I have to admit I was very skeptical of sculpties when they were announced,but I’m completely sold now. The tops that have them look so nice and round and much more natural than using just plain prims.

My skirt is from the new Auntie Elsie dress from Artilleri, this is actually a color that was free for one day and I picked it up. It is still available in other colors and definitely worth picking up. You have probably noticed how much I love full swinging skirts and this one has great netting underneath. I thought that the Sugar pumps in brown from Shiny Things went perfectly with the feel of this outfit.

Because of the halter ring neck on the shirt I had a hard time finding a necklace that fit. I settled on the Antique pearl strand from Love Lace because it is the perfect length. You can’t see the back of it but it also has an adorable tie on the back of the neck. On my left arm I’m wearing the silver flexi bangles from Caroline Appolo and on my right arm I have the Golddust Cedar stack bangles from Earthtones Boutique. My earrings are from Cailyns and I have been trying to wear them for a while but I don’t wear a lot of gold jewelry. These are the Pirate hoops and they have little pirate related charms hanging from the necklace.

The hair I have on is called Helena from Rita Groshomme of Curio and its a really cute tied back ponytail with pieces slung back over the shoulder. I have another new skin from the Deviant Nation line on this one is called Excess– Overdose and has the prettiest shiniest lips ever!

I feel very ready for a picnic in this outfit so if you bring the sandwiches, I’ll bring the potato salad!

I started with the insanely detailed top and bottoms from the Maya Outfit from Savvy? The top and bottoms can actually be worn as a very gorgeous bathing suit.  I love the subtle dot print, and the sash is so cute and so detailed. The shading on this is just phenomenal. It really looks like the fabric is soft and gathered. Over it, I’m wearing the bolero jacket from the Saudade Dress from bossa nova. I love the detail of the lace and the peter pan collar with the brooch is just adorable. I have a feeling that I’ll be reaching for this jacket many more times. The shorts are the Tuxedo Shorts from the Janet Oufit from Last Call. I love tuxedo pants and shorts, and these are perfectly made. The shading and wrinkling details are top notch as always.

 

My shoes are the Shelle Pumps in Fawn from Shiny Things. I love the shell toe and the color is perfectly neutral. The mid height heel is also a plus. I’m wearing the Maya Earrings and Bracelet in Turquoise/Silver from EARTHTONES Boutique. These are the first (of hopefully many more) sculpted prim jewelry from EARTHTONES. I love how natural the shapes of the stones are and all the intricate details of the metal.

 

My hair is Chalisa II in Smoke from ETD. I just love an elegant ponytail. I’m sure you probably already noticed, but I’m actually wearing a skin that isn’t from Celestial Studios (Bopadabah ba bada ba ba ba bah! Lol, it’s from Zoolander). Yes, finally. This skin is the Medium Skin in Cactus from Fashionably Dead.  I had a difficult time finding a skin that met all of my personal preferences. I know that everyone has their own preferences, and I have mine. The makeup on these skins is gorgeous and nicely blended.  I especially love how the color of the eyeshadow looks so rich. The lip color is just a perfect peachy color. I think my favorite thing is that this skin has freckles. They’re so cute! My mom has some freckles, but I didn’t inherit them so I always wanted them. My lashes are the Lashes – Classic 9 from Celestial Studios. I finally broke down and bought more lashes. I procrastinated because I didn’t feel like fitting them, but I finally got around to it. I’m really glad I did because these are gorgeous. It’s amazing what lashes can do.

I think that secretly Pixeldolls and Last Call are plotting to steal my every linden. They have both been releasing so much great content lately that I’ve barely been able to keep up! That inspired me to do an outfit out of some of my favorite of the stuff released in the last month or so.

I started with the jeans from the Dahlia outfit at Last Call because I love the prim attachments. Ginny used sculpted prims with 2 options one are a sorta wavy flares and the other are these slouchy ones. I think the slouchy ones are my favorite because they blend so well with the jeans. 

For my top I actually started on the jacket layer first this time. I love the new tops that Pixeldolls is releasing that come in all the different patterns. For the empire belted cami I thought the Cherry Silk looked great. This pattern is a feminine and pretty floral. I think that the contrast from the belt and the edging in black keep it from looking too tea partyish. Not that I mind tea parties I <3 tea parties. Under this I put the top from the Pixeldolls Lucie dress because I love the puff sleeves! Finally I wanted a little lace edging so I turned to my trusty Trixie cami in rouge. I did warn you that I couldn’t take these Trixie tops off. I simply love the lace on these tops its perfect to add that special touch to any top.

I’ve been dying to wear my Emmanuelle shoes since I got them and have worn them a few times but being bright flaming red its usually hard to match them to my pink outfits. These shoes are gorgeous, they come from one of the collaborative lingerie outfit from Last Call and Celestial Studios. All of those have amazing shoes in case you missed them the first time around.

Recently I was introduced to Ame True of Elex Matador Jewelry and I really love how simple but beautiful her jewelry is. On my left hand I’m wearing the Tendenza Floreal Bracelet in red, it comes in quite a few colors and well shiny bangles need I say more? On my left hand I’m wearing the code bracelet from Shiny Things, I wear this one a lot because I like all the colors it has.

My necklace is the Maya necklace in Summer Flame from Earthtones Boutique. It’s got beaautiiful texturing and I think this is my favorite color because it’s so versatile. My earrings are the Dirty Brass Chandeliers from Junk. I’m always a sucker for nice big hoops so these are great.  I’m wearing the Drew hair in Honey Brown from Hairapy.

This skin is another new one from the Deviant Nation line and the colouring is similar to an old Celestial Studios Passport skin called Solar Flare. That was always one of my favorite makeups so I’m very happy to see something with similar colouring. I think the gold just looks glowy and refreshing.

Little bear ears, leopard print and ear flaps. Could I ask for anything more? Well maybe a hat just like it in rl (I would so wear this). The Beary Flappy Hat (such a cute name!) from {Soap} was the inspiration for this outfit. The hat originally came with hair attached, but I removed it. The hat is so cute and detailed. The texturing is awesome. I love the stiching on it, and the little ties are flexi. I’m wearing the Top from the recently released Striped Mini Outfit in Green from Kenzie. I love the neckline and button detail on this top. Over it, I have on the Mini Sweater in Sunwheat from the Dahlia Outfit from Last Call. The slouchy sleeves are just amazing. I’m wearing the Cut Off Jeans in Charred from tres blah. Again, the texturing details are fabulous, and I love the pockets on these.

 

My shoes are the Leopard Flats from indie. These are still on sale along with everything else in the store (I think everything is 50% off). I’m wearing the Gorilla Choker from Electric Jane’s. I got this because it makes me think of my brother (I miss you!). I call him a gorilla (and many other names, lol), and I’m a panda. I won’t get into the story because I don’t want to embarrass him (see I’m being nice, Toneless ), and I don’t want to get my butt kicked (ok, maybe not so nice, more like self preservation). Anyways, this choker is so cute. The prim work just amazes me. There are a ton of different animals, all equally as cute. I love that he even has a little banana to snack on when he gets hungry (aww, is Toneless hungries? ).

I just realized today that I’ve been blogging for about 6 months! That’s pretty amazing and if you look at my first posts you’ll be amazed and scared… Let’s say my ps skills have come along nicely.

Today I had to start with the Little Miss Shopaholic shirt from Canimal. It is super adorable and comes in a pack with 3 other Little Miss shirts. The t-shirts are slightly sheer and have wonderful wrinkling on them.

Because of the sheerness, I added the Gabrielle lacy beater from Last Call. It comes on tons of layers and especially on the undershirt and underpants layer so you can get that tucked in look. My shorts are from the Retro outfit from GLAM. I’m not usually a shorts wearing girl in rl or sl but these have the most adorable ties on the side so I couldn’t resist.

I actually had to look awhile for shoes and then I decided on the Abby shoes from Vertically Challenged. These remind me of those saltwater sandals we all wore as little girls. They also come with a color change script so you can change the shoe, bow, trim and bottom. The bows are so adorable and have great texture to them.

The necklace I’m wearing is actually a freebie from Boing Fromage and it is probably one of the only freebies I wear on a regular basis that actually has the store’s name on it. I like the little shell and the clasp in the back the best. My earrings are also shells they are the Pailette earrings in white from Paper Couture and they come in a few different color variations.

I recently discovered Korvin Kreations and I have to say I love the bangle sets that are there. I’m wearing the Green Dragon Bangles on my left arm and I like all the different colors in that set. On my right arm I’m wearing the wood bangles from Zona Cero again. I also added the Psycho Bunneh novelty ring from Canimal because I love bunnies psycho or not.

This hat/hair combo is one of the new scultpie sets from Celestial Studios. I love this beachy hat and the fact that it includes 7 other hat textures to choose from is great. The bangs are all fringy and while I do have to take off my beloved prim eyelashes, it’s totally worth it. I’m wearing another of the new Deviant Nation Vogue skins this time it’s Celestial Eternal and this might have my most favorite makeup of all. I love this lip color it’s neutral without being boring and the eye shadow and liner is amazing.

I wanted to also add in case you didn’t notice my fiance added a cool feature to the site on the sidebar. Also we’ve been slowly adding more features lately one that we added a while ago and I forgot to mention is the “email” button. So, after two days of food poisoning (I’m vowing to never eat a carnitas torta unless I make it myself) and digging through my so-not-organized-anymore inventory (I swear it used to be organized), this outfit is finally finished. I started with the Bermuda Shorts in Dark from LF Fashions. I love the dark wash and that there are both pants and underpants versions of these shorts in the set. I’m wearing the underpants version so I could have the Layered Knit Tank from Last Call untucked. The Layered Knit Tank comes on many different layers, but I’m wearing the shirt and pants ones. Underneath that, I’m wearing the Top from the Eloise Dress from Luxe Brand which added the ruffles. Luxe Brand is unfortunately no longer around, but I did read in the current issue of Second Style that Lo Jacobs is working on new stuff. So, I’m super excited for that. And for the cherry on top (or raspberry on top, although that sounds weird), I’m wearing the Raspberry Knit Sweater from Fashionably Dead. I love the pattern of the open weave on this sweater.

 

I had a lot of different textures going, but not much color or pattern. So, I chose the Blue Polka Dots Flats from Old Gravy to add a little something else in there. The shoes come either with the blue bow or a red one in the set. The necklace is the Heirloom Locket from EARTHTONES Boutique. I have the crystals set to dark gray and sky blue (I think). I love the intricacy, and the prim work is just flawless as usual. My bangles are the Natural Woods Bangles from Eye Candy Designs. I love all the variations of wood textures and the different shapes of the bangles.

 

Now I know I’m wearing the same hair that Hethr had worn in her previous post, but this hair just felt right to me for this outfit. I love the perfectly messy look of it. My skin is the Vogue Skin in Cashmere (Spring – Pure) from Celestial Studios. I know I wear the spring line skins a lot, but the blush really has me hooked. It really perks up your face, and the blush on the spring skins is subtle and very fresh. My lashes are from the Deviant Nation Vogue Skins.

Hi! I guess it’s my turn to explain where I’ve disappeared to. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but I have some problems with my back. It’s something I’ve dealt with since i was a teenager and it just seems to be having a flare up for the last month. So with work sometimes its hard to be on the computer at nights for a long time. But I am not going anywhere because I love doing this and you guys too much! I just didn’t want you to think we were abandoning you.

Ok now about my outfit, I know it’s bright. Toneless might have told me I look like a watermelon (the nerve!!). But I love it!

You know me and pink so I had to start with the Miss Karina skirt from Savvy? I really think Dakota does some of the best system skirts out there it has great shading and adorable buttons on the back. My top is the Luau Dress top in green from Karamia, this looks like a fairly new shop and she doesn’t have a lot right now but what she does have its really cute. I wanted something extra for the top so after much looking I remembered my Cross Top Jacket from Sioxie Legend. These are great the come in tons of colors and on all layers and are tinted. So I just tinted this one to approximately the same shade as the skirt and I love how it turned out.

My necklace is the Veronique necklace 2 in Rhodochrosite/Silver, it has a really long name and I’m sure I spelled it wrong but the set is really pretty and I wear it a lot. My earrings are also some of my favorites they are the pink dangle disk earrings from Kitty’s Rampage they also come in tons of colors. I of course have on 2 bangles the ones on the right are the painted wood bangles from Naughty Designs and on the left are the gentle sway silver flexi bangles from Caroline Apollo. They are simple but I love the little sway they do when you move.

I found my shoes at Maitreya who is the featured new designer at ETD this month. I love how delicate they look and especially the leg ties. My hair is the Bonita II from ETD and I think this might be the first time I’ve worn it. Sometimes things get lost in my inventory, but I am glad I’ve reclaimed this. My favorite thing about is how it manages to look casual and elegant at the same time.

I am a huge fan of eyeliner in rl and sl so I think thats why I love love love the new Deviant Nation Vamp line so much. It has great eyeliner and nice smokey eyes. I’m wearing Seduce and I’ve tinted the lips to be a little more pink that they originally come in. I think the Classic 1 lashes also play up the eyes and I’m usually wearing a pair of these as well. Finally I added the Jenny Pink Manicure and Pedicure set from Nyterave and they are super shiny and she has lots of colors up for sale.
